El Timon is an Austrian restaurant situated by the Barcelo Santiago Hotel in Puerto Santiago. The fillet steaks are excellent and are very reasonably priced. The staff are polite and friendly and this restaurant is highly recommended. It a popular place to eat so it is best to book a table.

This small cafe is situated in Playa De La Arena and serves a traditional dish known as arepas. Arepas are considered the national food of Venezuela, taking the place
of bread in the daily diet. They are pockets of cornflour which are deep fried and filled with a variety of delicious ingredients such as tuna or spicy chicken. They are very cheap and make a excellent lunch time snack. El Solecito can be found past the Mercadona supermarket in Playa De La Arena. It is not necessary to book.
